From Local Action to Global Impact: Women’s Empowerment at Work

Submitted by abdulhalim on 27 February 2026

Our organization, Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF), had the honour of welcoming visitors from the United States and giving them an opportunity to witness firsthand the impact of our Women Empowerment Programs. The visit highlighted seaweed value-chain projects implemented by the Furahia Women’s Group located in Paje, Unguja, Zanzibar.

The visit demonstrated in practice how our programmes contribute to:

* Women’s economic empowerment
* Strengthening community resilience
* Promoting sustainable livelihoods and income-generating systems

This is clear evidence that investing in women not only transforms families but also drives inclusive development across entire communities.
