MIF Supports Eight Community Groups to Promote Clean Cooking Energy in Zanzibar
Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF) continues to strengthen community awareness and promote the adoption of clean cooking energy as part of its commitment to improving public health, protecting the environment, and supporting sustainable livelihoods in Zanzibar.
As part of the ongoing clean cooking energy campaign in the shehias of Uzi Ng’ambwa and Unguja Ukuu, MIF has supported eight community groups with a total of 160 gas cylinders, with each group receiving 20 cylinders. This support aims to encourage the transition from traditional cooking fuels, such as firewood and charcoal, to cleaner cooking alternatives while creating opportunities for economic empowerment through clean energy initiatives.
The initiative seeks to address the health and environmental challenges associated with traditional cooking methods, including exposure to harmful smoke, deforestation, and environmental degradation. By promoting clean cooking solutions, MIF aims to contribute to healthier households, improved environmental conservation, and more sustainable community development.
Beyond its environmental and health benefits, the initiative also presents opportunities for community groups to engage in clean energy-related economic activities, strengthen their livelihoods, and contribute to the wider adoption of clean cooking practices.
Through these efforts, MIF continues to work towards building informed, healthier, and more resilient communities by encouraging the safe use of gas and increasing access to cleaner cooking solutions.
Clean cooking energy is more than an alternative to traditional fuels; it is an investment in healthier lives, economic empowerment, environmental protection, and a sustainable future.
MIF remains committed to working with communities and development partners to advance clean energy adoption and promote sustainable development across Zanzibar.
