Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation Marks International Women’s Day with Mental Health Training

Submitted by abdulhalim on 11 March 2026

Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation commemorated International Women’s Day by providing special training on mental health to community health workers (CHWs) from the Southern Region of Unguja – Zanzibar, in line with this year’s theme: “Give to Gain.”

Through this training, these women—who are on the front line of delivering healthcare services to communities—were equipped with knowledge and skills to identify, understand, and provide education on mental health issues within the communities they serve.

By empowering these women today, we are laying the foundation for building a healthier society tomorrow. The CHWs who received this training will become an important link in spreading awareness about mental health, helping women and families cope with psychological challenges, and contributing to the development of a community with well-being and unity.

We believe that a woman with good mental health has a greater capacity to raise a healthy family, participate actively in economic activities, and become a strong force in community development.
