Kizimkazi Festival 2026: MIF Unveils Programme to Advance Sustainable Development in Zanzibar
30 July 2026, Zanzibar – Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF) has officially announced its participation in the Kizimkazi Festival 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting sustainable development, community empowerment, and strategic partnerships across Zanzibar.
During a press conference held today, Hon. Wanu Hafidh Ameir, Chairperson of Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF), accompanied by Board Member Prof. Mohammed Hafidh and Executive Director Hon. Sabra Ali, unveiled the Foundation's programme of activities for the festival and highlighted its vision for contributing to the event's long-term impact.
Speaking during the briefing, the MIF leadership emphasized that the Kizimkazi Festival is more than a cultural celebration. It serves as an important platform for promoting tourism, strengthening local economies, supporting youth and community talent, fostering innovation, and bringing together government institutions, development partners, the private sector, and local communities to accelerate sustainable development in Zanzibar.
As part of its participation, MIF will lead and support several key activities throughout the festival:
11 August 2026 – Clean Cooking Conference
Under the theme "From Smoke to Solutions: Clean Cooking for Every Meal," the conference will promote the adoption of clean cooking technologies that improve public health, protect the environment, and contribute to sustainable development. The day will conclude with a Photography Art Exhibition organized in collaboration with WABA (We Are Better Africans).
12 August 2026 – Festival Walk, Official Opening Ceremony, and Business Exhibition
Participants from various sectors will come together for the Festival Walk, followed by the official opening ceremony and a business exhibition showcasing entrepreneurship, innovation, and local enterprise.
13 August 2026 – Kizimkazi Night
An evening dedicated to celebrating Zanzibar's rich cultural heritage through performances including Taarab music, Bongo Flava artists, live bands, and comedy entertainment.
14 August 2026 – Grand Finale
The festival will conclude with the Grand Finale at Mwewe Grounds, bringing together communities, partners, and visitors to celebrate the achievements and impact of the four-day event.
